Nourishing Homemade Hair Masks
Hi Guys!
In this post I am going to talk about some homemade hair masks that provide adequate nourishment to the seasonally affected tresses. These hair masks are the perfect remedy for hairfall, alopecia, dandruff, premature greying, ill effects of colouring. Recently, monsoons caused a havoc to many of our hair follicles and I saw a lot of women complaining about excessive hairfall. Trust me ladies, you are not alone. I experienced a lot of hair breakage too. That is the time when I decided to start looking through my kitchen shelves and shortlist some ingredients to formulate some homemade hair masks which help in hair nourishment without spending a lot of money or causing any further chemical damage to hair.
1. Amla/Gooseberry Hair Mask
Indian Gooseberry is an excellent ingredient to treat premature greying and excessive hairfall caused due to variety of reasons. For this hair mask the following ingredients are needed.
- 3 tbsp Amla(Indian Gooseberry) powder
- 2 tsp Brahmi powder
- 4 tbsp Methi (Fenugreek seeds) powder
- 1/2 cup Coconut Milk.
Mix all the ingredients together to form a thick paste.Apply the resulting paste on the scalp and along the length of the hair strands. Leave this hair mask on for 15-20 minutes. Take it off by washing it with a herbal shampoo.
2. Hibiscus Hair Mask
Hibiscus or China Rose acts as an excellent natural iingredient to address hairfall issues. For this hibiscus hair mask you will need:
- 5 Red Hibiscus/China Rose flowers
- 1/4 cup fenugreek seeds(methi) which have been soaked overnight
- 1/4 cup curry leaves
- 1/4 cup fresh coconut
Immerse the flower petals for an hour approximately in water and grind the petals with the other mentioned ingredients. Extract the resulting paste through a sieve or muslin cloth. Massage this onto the scalp only. After 10-15 minutes wash it off with cold water and follow it up with a herbal shampoo.
3. All Purpose Hair Mask
This is one excellent homemade hair mask to solve multiple hair problems including hairfall, limp hair , dandruff etc. For this you will need the following kitchen ingredients.
- 1/4 cup almond oil
- 1/2 cup coconut milk
- 1/4 cup methi seeds paste
- 1/4 cup aloevera gel
- 2 eggs(yolk + egg whites)
- 4-5 drops lavender oil
Grind the milk, eggs, castor oil, methi seeds and coconut milk together. Pour this mixture in a bowl and add lavender oil drops to the same. People who are prone to cold should place this mixture’s bowl in another bowl of warm water to warm up the paste.Firstly Massage almond oil onto the scalp for 5-7 minutes. Now massage this thick paste on scalp and along the lengths of hair. Wash this off with warm water and herbal shampoo. To strengthen the effect of the previous mixture apply a mixture of beaten eggs and aloevera gel for another 10 minutes and follow it up with a normal head wash.
Thats it from my side today.

Great ideas for hair mask. I like the All purpose hair mask one.
Nice useful information..will try one of these soon 🙂
hey love your hair, I have similar length of straight hair. There were wonderful at one time – and may I say I had little bit of pride in them – but now it’s a horrible story – a mop is smoother than my hair. I’ll try one of these over the weekend. Let’s see what happens to my mess
