My Trip to Gujarat

Hi Guys!

I am back with a new post today. I will be talking about my first trip to Gujarat in this blog today. Travel makes me the happiest. I tend to forget my worries, apprehensions and tend to glow after every vacation I take (that’s what my Mom says atleast ๐Ÿ˜€ ). I am sure this is what travel does to most of you as well. As for me, this trip was work + fun as I had to attend a conference in Surat for two days. So me and my friends amalgamated work in between our travel in this trip.

Our journey began from IGI Airport, Delhi where we took an early morning Indigo Airlines at 7.30 a.m. ย and reached Ahmedabad at 9.30 a.m.. From there, we got picked by another friend who stays there and took Shatabdi from Ahmedabad to Surat. The train takes approximately 3 hours to reach Surat and we were served evening tea and snacks on our way. I didn’t like anything in that platter and preferred to have apples instead, which I bought from the Ahmedabad station itself.

Reaching Surat, we negotiated from the Autorickshaw-wala and fixed a deal which he later broke. The autorickshaw took around 40 minutes to reach SVNIT, Surat where our conference was to be held. We were all given guest houses to stay in at INR 200 per day tariff. Soon after checking in and lodging our bags, we set out to discover the richest city of the country. Haha, that is what the professors at NIT Surat were proudly boasting of and I am not complaining. The people were rich not only with their bank balance but were very warm and cordial in their behaviour. I saw so many Audi and Mercedes Benz that I am not even kidding.

One of the most attractive features of the city is the pleasant weather it enjoys throughout the year. The temperatures would make you want to stay there for the entire life. That’s what I wanted when I was there in the city. Because of its proximity to river Tapi, it enjoys good weather the entire year. The same day we made our visit to the VR Mall. It is a shopping mall housing some high street and well as luxury labels like Zara, MAC, Marks and Spencer, Chumbak, Shoppers Stop, Forest Essentials etc. I am sure the youth loves shopping and lounging around here.

After my tiny bit of shopping, I headed to this place called Ming’s because I wanted to try some Yummy Chicken Savouries in the city. One of our friends suggested this place to us and by looking at its reviews online, someone had mentioned the word ‘Shady’. I was a bit skeptical in going there first but the food and hospitality of this cosy little restaurant won me over. I went there on the second day of my trip too, to have my lunch.

The next day, early in the morning we headed towards the famous Dumas Beach at the other end of the city, had ย dhokla and khandvi from one of the food vans on the way. Every nook and corner of Gujarat sells these snacks I suppose and they are super yummy. The water at the Dumas Beach wasn’t very clean but it was my first ever beach visit so nevertheless I was quite excited to see everything.

The same day in the evening I boarded my train back to Ahmedabad and my flight back to Delhi. It was a short but memorable trip for 3 days and I am definitely going there to explore more the next time.

Have you ever been to Gujarat? How was your experience, I would love to know!

Until next time,bye bye!
